SEC Puts Conflicts, Hedge Funds in Exam Crosshairs for ’22

Fundfire’s Lydia Tomkiw asked GAP Partner Brian Guzman about the SEC’s expected exam agenda for private funds in 2022. Brian predicted a renewed focus on fees, expenses and conflicts of interest in innovative fund structures, such as special purpose vehicles, one-off funds and other creative models. Brian also cautioned managers to prepare for a return to in-person examinations and a heightened focus on how managers are supervising compliance by staff who continue to work remotely. Link for subscribers.
